Autodesk Inventor Server 2012

Autodesk Inventor Server 2012 is a headless, automation-ready version of Autodesk Inventor designed for server-side and batch processing of Inventor data. Developed by Autodesk, it provides programmatic access to Inventor’s core modeling, drawing, and file management capabilities without a user interface, making it ideal for enterprise workflows, background jobs, and integration with PDM/PLM systems.

Key capabilities:

• Open, update, and regenerate Inventor parts, assemblies, and drawings programmatically using the Inventor API.
• Compute and extract metadata such as iProperties and bills of materials for downstream systems.
• Validate models and drawings and perform repeatable design checks in unattended workflows.
• Publish and convert CAD data to viewing and neutral formats (for example, DWF/DWFX, STEP, IGES, and DWG), depending on installed translators.
• Power server-side automations such as those in Autodesk Vault Job Processor for updating files and generating viewables.

Inventor Server 2012 targets developers, system integrators, and IT teams who need scalable, consistent CAD processing without consuming interactive desktop licenses. It requires the Inventor Server runtime and compatible translators on the machine executing the automation and is intended for use through the Inventor 2012 API rather than as a standalone end-user application.
